The Secret
If you are earnestly looking for the way to eternal life and have doubts that you have found it, read on.

My friend, going regularly to church, doing good works such as being the organist or collection taker, paying to help feed the poor, etc. will not make you acceptable to God.
Please understand that only those who are acceptable to God will go to live with Him one day.
Very briefly, here are the rules:
  • God makes the rules because He made everything that ever was. He is all-powerful, all-righteous and can do what ever He wants.
  • Only those who are righteous in themselves (worldly righteousness) will understand the rules. This doesn't mean those who think that they are righteous, but those whom God compares to the unrighteous.
  • The rules are all in the rule-book - The Holy Bible.
  • God will only hear those who obey the rules with joyfulness
  • God wants to teach us Himself, through His Holy Spirit, as we read the rule-book.
  • God has decreed that only those who accept the Blood Covenant that the Lord Jesus Christ made with Him on behalf of mankind will be accepted by Him.
  • It's not easy being a Christian. Expect trials and tribulation.
  • Christianity is a personal meeting between the Creator and the created and He will show Himself spiritually to those who are accepted.
Here's a little more detail on each point above:

God makes the rules
See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
(Deuteronomy 30:15-19)
If, like Frank Sinatra you want to do it "My Way", it will be found to be the "Lost Way".

Worldly righteousness
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
(1 Chronicles 29:17)

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
(Acts 10:34-35)

Job knew of God and was righteous in himself:
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
(Job 1:6-8)

Howbeit, at one stage he was righteous in his own eyes:
So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
(Job 32:1)

And it took some time for him to spiritually meet God face to face.
I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
(Job 42:5-6)
Today, most people in the churches have heard about God, but when they become born again, it's a whole new ball game.

The rule-book
The reason why it's called the Holy Bible is because it's more than just a collection of words written by various people:
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
(2 Timothy 3:14-17)

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
(2 Peter 1:19-21)

Obey with joyfulness
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
(Deuteronomy 28:1-2)

Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things
(Deuteronomy 28:47)

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
(John 14:21-24)

And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
(Acts 5:32)

Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation. For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.
(2 Corinthians 7:4-7)

God wants to teach us Himself
Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
(Proverbs 1:23)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
(John 14:6)

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
(1 John 2:27)

The Covenant of the Lord Jesus Christ
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(John 3:16)

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
(1 Timothy 2:5)
This is such a large and important subject that it's covered in depth in part two of The Heart of the Gospel

Expect difficulties
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
(James 1:2-3)

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
(1 Peter 4:12-14)

A Personal Meeting
But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
(Job 32:8)

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
(John 3:3-6)

All the above subjects are covered more fully in the writings in this series, the sole purpose of which is to enable you so that you may worship God in spirit and truth.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
(John 4:23-24)
