Beware of Deception

No-one can know anything except by learning about it. To know about Jesus we need to learn about Him.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
(Hosea 4:6)

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
(Proverbs 2:1-9)

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
(Philippians 2:12-13)

The only way to learn about our Lord Jesus Christ is to study the Bible, it is the word of truth:
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
(1 Thessalonians 2:13)

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
(2 Timothy 3:16)

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
(John 17:17)

It is actually an insult to God the Creator to learn about Him second-hand through the mouth of some man.
If we love Him we want to learn about Him not so?
So, we must learn about Him in the Bible. This means that we must all have a Bible and must study it every day, just as we must talk to Him every day in prayer. In this way we can show other brothers and sisters what the Lord has shown us in the Bible and encourage them to study it also.

When anyone says something about the Lord Jesus or about Christians that one of us hasn't heard before, we mustn't take what that person says as truth, rather say to him or her "Where's that in the Bible?" If they can't show you they might be talking rubbish:
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
 (Acts 17:10-11)

Because the Bible is our Instruction Manual we must know its contents well and try and live according to its truths. It is the only way to get to know the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Bible is broken up into two parts; the Old Covenant (Testament) and the New Covenant (Testament). The four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are not actually part of the New, but prepare us for the New Covenant, because the New only starts after Jesus had died and rose from the dead.

All the books in the New Covenant have been written to Christians, to house churches, or members of house churches:
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother, To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Colossians 1:1-2)

Many of them are letters written by Paul to people that he knew, people in churches that he started when he was in that city. Some are in reply to letters that he received from those churches, as in Corinthians, others are as the result of stories that he had heard of church members going astray:
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
(Galatians 3:1-4)

Lets look at a letter written by Jude:
Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
(Jude 1:1-25)
Do you see all the warnings therein?

Why all these warnings?

Someone hates God
There is someone that hates God. His name is Satan, who was once called Lucifer. Satan will do his best to lead people astray from God and he deceives all people in some way or another; Christians and other people as well.

Let us learn more about Satan so that we can know how to fight him.

He is a very powerful spirit created by God, that once was a covering cherub in God's presence, in other words he was always with God. He was also probably the chief music maker in heaven and was very beautiful to look at. However, he became very proud and tried to become as powerful as God and as a result there was a war in heaven and Satan was beaten. He and a third of the angels in heaven, those who had fought on his side, were cast out of heaven onto the earth:
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
 (Ezekiel 28:11-17)

And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
(Revelation 12:3-4)

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
(Revelation 12:7-9)

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
(Jude 1:9)

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
(Isaiah 14:12-17)

And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
(Luke 10:17-19)

From the above passages of Scripture we can see that Satan is very powerful and is on this earth. Because of his closeness to us he exerts a tremendous influence on all peoples of the earth. Because he hates God so much he will do all in his power to prevent anybody from going to heaven to be with God one day. He cannot help himself; he cannot be good. He can pretend to be good to deceive mankind and lead them astray:
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
(2 Corinthians 11:14)

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
(John 8:44)

What will happen to Satan and his demons?
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners? All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house. But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet. Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
 (Isaiah 14:15-20)

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
(Revelation 20:1-3)

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
 (Revelation 20:7-10)

How does Satan deceive mankind?
Remember, he is at war with God. In any war there are ordinary soldiers, in this case Satan's demons. There are also Generals who tell the soldiers what to do, in this case there are different levels of demons:
And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
(Daniel 10:10-13)

Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
(Daniel 10:20)

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places
(Ephesians 6:12)

In wartime there are also spies and people in authority of one side who really work for the other side. As we all know there are those who openly worship Satan. There are also those men who secretly worship him, or those who once worshipped God and His Son but have been taken captive by Satan, probably by the wiles of a woman or the love of money.

As we previously saw, the Galatian church was deceived by witches (demons) who tried to keep the people in bondage to the law (ten commandments) and Jude wrote of men that crept into the church of the time unawares, deceiving the believers. Most churches today have such people in places of authority, teaching false doctrine. The only way to find them out is with the help of the Holy Spirit while reading the Bible. Only born again Christians have the Holy Spirit living inside them.

What does the Bible say we must do when we discover these people?
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
(2 John 1:7-11)

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
(2 Corinthians 6:17)

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
(Revelation 18:4)

Another way that a war is fought is with the powerful weapon of propaganda. If a nation is told a lie often enough, eventually the lie will be believed by the majority of the people. The people who obey the lie belong to the person who influences them:
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
 (Romans 6:16)

Satan used two men, by the names of Westcott and Hort to "find" two old copies of the Scriptures. These copies seem to be very old, but what is not commonly known is that they both originated in the Roman Catholic church and that one was actually found in a rubbish bin. We will learn later on that the Roman Catholic church is the powerhouse of Satan, so guess where these "new discoveries" came from. Yet all of the Bible translations in common use today, except for the King James version, are influenced by these false translations. This can be proved to those who are interested in finding out.

However, it is easy enough to see some of the pattern by reading our Bibles and comparing the various passages with the King James version.

Jesus once said:
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
 (Matthew 7:15-20)

So, if we see a Bible version that brings down the power of and truth about the Lord Jesus Christ, or hides the truth about Satan, we know that this is the work of someone that hates our Lord and likes Satan, not so?

Here are some passages from the Authorised (King James ) Version that can be compared with your Bible. Are there any changes? If there are, you are using a Bible that is influenced by Satan. Do you think that you can learn the truth about our Lord Jesus Christ from Satan?

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit
(Romans 8:1 AV)

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
(1 John 5:7 AV)

(Isaiah 14:12-17 AV)

(Ezekiel 28:11-17 AV)
So we can see that Satan is very powerful, very beautiful to look at and is on this earth with us. It stands to reason that Christians have to be very careful not to fall into a trap set by him.

How can we protect ourselves and at the same time defeat Satan?
By being born again so that we have the spirit of God living inside of us, by reading the word of God, believing that it is the truth and by living according to God's wishes. Not because we have to, but because we want to.

God can then protect us by His great power because we belong to Him:
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
(James 4:7)

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
(1 John 4:4)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
(Ephesians 6:10-18)

You will notice here that the only weapon that the Christian has is the word, the Bible. It is therefore most important to use one that the enemy has not blunted with deception.
