The Spirit is Truth

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
(1 John 5:6)

Imperfect man sees only a part of God's perfect Truth, but he must grasp what he has been shown and he must build thereon using the gifts that have been given; such as God's holiness, God's righteousness, God's lovingkindness, God's word, God's Spirit, time; and his own personal virtues such as conviction, conscience, honesty, humbleness, patience, endurance, etc.

God is Holy, His Spirit is Holy, and so is His Word.
Our heavenly Father expects us to be Holy too.

This has very little to do with the "Christian" denomination that man has chosen to warm his bottom at, not caring how close or far from the truth the doctrine is wherein that denomination operates.

Recently, a number of audio tapes, originally recorded in various charismatic churches, of some very well known international speakers, were "revisited".
One brilliant American speaker, possibly the most famous of them all, repeatedly stated that it didn't matter what charismatic church you came from; that as long as your leader was under the power of the Holy Spirit he was leading you in the right direction and you were to be obedient to his leadership.
He further stated that one of his best friends in the charismatic movement had some strange doctrinal ideas, but that he was so spiritually anointed!
Another, South African this time, said "If you are born again you should listen to the Holy Spirit that is within you. I'm not saying that you should necessarily give up studying your Bible, but listen to the Spirit.

In both these examples, one of the pillars of Christendom had been undermined.

Surely, most certainly: if the spirit that is in someone reveals a spiritual "truth" that is contrary to the word of God or only partly true, either that spirit is a liar, or God the Father, the Creator of all things is a liar.
If God's Holy Word is untrue what are we, you and I doing here?
What did God create us for? To play cops and robbers for His recreation like in a computer game?
No. He created us to live as cops or robbers in the "game" of reality so that we each decide our own eternal fate by the decisions that we make in this temporary life.
When reborn, we are not our own, we were bought with the price of Holy blood:
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
(Revelation 4:11)

If we wish to live in God's Kingdom one day we are to live to please Him while on this earth, allowing God's Holy Spirit to direct us into God's Holy Word so that we can understand the rules of the Holy "game".

If one thinks about:
And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
(Leviticus 10:1-2)
and:
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
(Acts 19:11-19)
we realise that God is Holy and expects loving obedience in every one who calls on His name.

God's Holy Word is effective and is Truth:
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
(Isaiah 55:8-11)
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We have already seen from the Scripture at the beginning that the Holy Spirit is Truth

Two Truths are Truth, there can be no difference between Truth and Truth.

This is what the apostle Paul, the Spiritual prisoner of the Living Jesus Christ taught his young Pastor:
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
(2 Timothy 4:1-4)

Do you agree that we are in the last days?

Dear reader, please make a little banner and stick it to you shaving or make-up mirror so that you will see it and be reminded every day:-

"Is the spirit within me of the Truth?"

For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
(3 John 1:3-4)

Believe that God's Holy Word is Truth.
Believe that God's Holy Spirit will open the Truth1 to you as you seek to find Him.

For example, we shall understand what is meant by the phrase "try the spirits whether they are of God".

Here are some relevant statements and passages of Scripture:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
(John 1:1-5)
Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
(John 12:44-50)
Lord Jesus Christ is the Word.
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
(John 11:26)

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
(1 John 2:20)

And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
(1 John 1:4-7)

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
(1 John 4:1-2)
A lying spirit can state this with his fingers crossed, so it must mean something else not so?
And a person that is controlled by a lying, unclean spirit will do the same.

With the help of the Holy Spirit it is revealed that the phrase "that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh" is more than a mere statement of faith. The key is the word "confesseth". A person that is under torture makes a confession against his or her will not so?
The Author of the statement who wishes us to admit it must therefore be assured that we mean what we say.
So, this statement must be wrung from us by our conscience. Our heart must have convicted us that we could not save ourselves, we had to come under God's power in brokenness of self.
This means that if you come across someone who states that he is under the power of the Holy Spirit, push him a bit and see if he is living a Holy life according to the Word of Jesus Christ.
How is his heart?
How are his fruits?
In this way you will know whether to associate with him or not.
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
(2 John 1:6-11)

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
(1 John 5:1-12)

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
(2 Peter 1:3-4)

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
(1 John 2:18-19)

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
(Acts 2:21)

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
(1 John 2:15-17)

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
(Revelation 1:1-10)

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
(1 John 2:27)
